Not to be too woke but not thinking critically about pieces of art you see is how you become susceptible to propaganda and can make you more easily manipulated by people smarter than you

Counterpoint: reading too much into things can also let you fall victim to propaganda. E.g; DID YOU SEE HOW LONG THEY SHOWED JEWISH FAMILIES??? 12 SECONDS!!! THATS HOW MANY YEARS THE HOLOCAUST WAS!!! THEYRE GOING TO DO THE HOLOCAUST PART 2 ELECTRIC BOOGALOO

That doesn’t mean we should just shrug our shoulders and dismiss the art we see. Art is intentional and political, invariably. Finding what the artist is trying to say is essential to keeping your critical thinking alive. “It’s not that deep” is the antithesis to intellectualism

This post wasn’t even about that but like the fact that that’s the first thing you thought of when you saw this post means you know there’s more to be said about that commercial than what you’re suggesting

Well considering it’s half of what I saw online today and they’re claiming it’s neo Nazi propaganda yes my mind associated this post with that. So no in no way does that actually mean there’s more to it than that

It still is good to point out what one notices in even as something as simple as a commercial. Conversations like this should be happening, and I’m glad they are. Because it’s never that deep until it is, and by then it’ll be too late. Don’t be afraid to engage in a conversation about art, that’s what art is meant to do, even a commercial with Sydney Sweeney.

Agreed, when it actually starts to be Nazi propaganda or propaganda saying one race is better than another etc I will obviously call it out. But that instance seems to be more people crashing out because of their own insecurities because a pretty white woman said she had good genes.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. It’s just in this specific example, I do believe that people are seeing bigger issues than there are. Outside of this specific case though, yeah I agree with you.

i mean it’s a fairly clear dog whistle and it’s a recreation of some very pedo-y ads
