You know.. it's up to governments to protect the environment. I don't blame companies for extracting a resource and selling to willing customers. We want cheap energy. We want to pretend that the climate warming costs aren't real and can be swept under the rug. We should have put a price on carbon decades ago. Now i do blame those oil executives who undertook a campaign of denial and misinformation. Today even the oil companies admit that it's a problem and don't even mind the certainty of knowi

knowing like just put a small price on carbon emissions and get it over with but it's become this weirdly calcified republican dogma that it'a not real because al gore was kind of a dork or something. The consequences of our failure to get serious about this are going to be extraordinary. But i think it's this tragic social failing and not a simple case of one group of people being evil.
