I don't support Israeli people in their settlement of the West Bank or Gaza but that was a military operation and any military acts against it should be directed towards the military. Civilian casualties not being OK in war is the entire reason I'm against the settlement/occupation of Gaza and the West Bank in the first place

Generally people don’t take hostages unless they’re cornered. I honestly wouldn’t have minded it the prisoners at Auschwitz or Dachau took German civilians hostage, it’s a very similar situation here. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do to survive

Hostages are useful because you can use them as leverage and I think that’s what makes them different from prisoners. IMO the Jews were not hostages during WW2 because they weren’t used as bargaining chips like hostages are. Like, other countries weren’t begging for them back. They were instead prisoners and often used for slave labor

Of course not, but those people are still bargaining chips. If Israel just said “fuck it” and dropped the act and stopped saying they wanted their hostages back they’d see a revolt from the Israeli people
