even before the death camps were established, tons of people died in the concentration camps from disease, exhaustion due to hard labor etc. Anne Frank wasn’t killed in a gas chamber or shot, she died of typhus. same can be said for the far earlier camps the Spanish built in Cuba or the first concentration camps to be called that, the ones the British built during the Boer Wars, when 40,000+ Afrikaner women and children died of disease or malnutrition.
