I mean most leftist revolutionaries from the last century were at least middle class if not from wealthy families, many spent time getting education in Europe. That’s kinda the whole point of keeping people poor, they don’t have the time or energy to learn about revolutionary ideas or about how Marxists actually aren’t their enemy
It is common throughout history that the ideologues tend to be those with access to education. Socialist activism used to be more common among the American working class (particularly in urban areas), but racism and xenophobia were successfully used to redirect their anger to other ethnic groups or foreigners.
I don’t agree with everything that Mao did like his famines and the killing of innocent house sparrows or the treatment of the Dali Lama or the treatment of the 1959 Tibetan Uprising and his mass killings and his perceution of Feng Shui but I do happen to agree he is a great thinker and was trying to create a Communist utopia
I’m not saying that at all, I mean we’ve all read capitalist theory and know how that turned out. I do think most people would be curious what a fair evaluation of the idea would look like if we were ever allowed to have one, and if the government didn’t spend so much time and money equating another government system to witchcraft and the pure embodiment of evil
