I can’t believe we are allowing conservatives to control the narrative like this. These kids are dead because the shooter was able to access a firearm. What the motives or identity of the shooter does not fucking matter in the slightest. Godless country

I’ve never seen “cis suspect does x and y” It’s so gross how they only mention stuff like this if they’re not straight or white.

Mind you, the way these people see it, the shooter was still a white man lmfao

Holy shit, I hadn’t even thought about that.

Well yea because that’s the default. If you don’t clarify someone as cis or trans, it’s generally safe to assume they’re cis. The only time that it’s worth mentioning is when the person is an outlier/trans

It isn't worth mentioning at all because it has zero relevance to what they did or why they did it. they're pointing out the double standard. the same thing happens with the way the media sensationalizes crimes committed by black men vs crimes committed by white men in which their race often isn't mentioned.

It’s pretty standard for people to use descriptors when they speak/write. Especially in media, it’s your job to give details, whether or not those details are directly relevant or not

So you don’t mind if breaking news is filled with non relevant information? That seems a bit counterintuitive.

I want all the context. Not one person can decide what’s relevant and what’s not

Why would the shooter being trans be relevant?

Why would a general description of the shooter be relevant to an article about the shooter? Is that what you’re asking me?

Gender Identity is not a “general description.” The correct and obvious answer is that the shooters identity is being weaponized to demonize the trans community while simultaneously deflecting from the fact that they were also a neo-nazi gun enthusiast. You’re being coy. We know what you are.

Seems like a very general description to me 😭 in fact that’s kind of as general as it gets

Do a lot of people demonize the trans community in this context? Absolutely. Is this headline an example of that? No. You’re reading far too much into it and just making yourself angry

Then WTF is the logic behind having the word “transgender” being the first word in a headline about a shooting?

That is literally what they are doing. 🫩 It’s an entire thread on the X home page dedicated to people (including Elon Musk, the dude who runs the app) discussing the shooters gender identity and the “innate link between transgender ideology and violence.” I suggest you stop here because you just look fucking dumb dude 😭
