Border patrol in the Great Lakes states usually isn’t like that, they’re more so there for drugs and American teens trying to get stolen cars out of the country through the northern border. But I haven’t lived up there in a few years so maybe it’s different now.

So this is about ICE or the national guard, not border patrol? Border patrol pretty much deals with border arrests, ICE is internal. And then the national guard is obviously completely separate from either of those entities

Just came across a story on this, and as it turns out I was wrong — there are border patrol agents in Chicago. I didn’t realize they have authority up to 100 miles away from the actual border. Seems a little overkill and like a convenient loophole to flood Chicago with as many feds as possible tbh
