Idk, fighting for freedom and then destroying random shit for fun are two pretty distinct things.

You shouldn’t be standing there in the way of the protest, and if you are, then you shouldn’t be violent yourself

Protest shouldn’t be destroying police cars and throwing rocks off the highway cause damage and harm to other people

The rioters started it first by throwing stones and rocks off a bridge and setting cars on fire. This could of been a simple protest and not a riot.

It is a protest, and it is a riot. That’s what we’re dealing with here, we are not at a point any longer where we can have a clear demarcation between those in our minds. Your argument makes sense if you picture people acting violently for no reason, which isn’t something people do.

They are setting cars on fire destroying property and looting it sounds like a riot to me. They are causing harm to police officers.

It’s a protest by definition; organized action against a policy aimed at restraining the execution of the policy. It is a riot by definition; violence by a large group of people, carried out simultaneously. They’re protesting and the riot is occurring in the course of the protest

1-catharsis 2-any use of force demonstrates the general capacity for force. A protest burns down a building for the same reason an Air Force bombs a building from the sky, for the same reason six cops might circle around and beat one guy - they’re proving that they can.

I did engage, just not in the way you wanted me to. What do you think happened at the Boston Tea Party and the Haymarket riots? The Waymo cars are also not “random shit,” they’re emblematic for many people of the corporate oligarchy we live under right now, which is directly tied to the current administration’s rise to and abuse of power. If a giant company getting some of its property messed up is enough to distract you from the secret police kidnapping people from their workplaces and

Do you really think ICE or the Trump admin is influenced by a few rioters lighting some cars on fire? Showing you can light stuff on fire means literally nothing here. That is not a threat that ICE or Trump care about. The Trump admin literally could not be happier about what rioters have done in LA! They LOVE when people give them the opportunity to paint pro-immigrant movements as pro-crime and destruction.

The only thing that these fascists are afraid of is losing power, and as long as pro-immigrant movements are defined by rioters who cause destruction and chaos because they feel like it, that’s never going to happen. It’s not fair that movements are defined by their most extreme factions, but it’s reality, especially when we use our energy to defend violent bad actors.

This would be a good point if they weren’t going to just lie and say riots were happening even when they aren’t. Shit, they’re doing it now. Multiple Republican lawmakers have posted AI or mislabeled videos. Protesters get painted as violent no matter what. They said the same shit about Gandhi and John Lewis back in the day.

Come on, don’t be dishonest. You know 95% of the posts about the riots have used actual pictures and footage. The graphic in this post is a real picture! I WISH all those pictures and videos of people lighting shit on fire this weekend were fake! And I’ve been to LOTS of political demonstrations that never got painted as violent because no one ever did violent shit. It does good actors in these movements no good to pretend like bad actors don’t exist or defend them. Denounce them and move on.

I am being honest lmao. Look it up, it’s happened at least half a dozen times that I’ve seen, mostly using footage from 2020. I’m not saying this post isn’t a real photo, I’m saying that republicans are already lying and would be calling protesters violent even if they weren’t. Additionally, the riots and property damage are limited to a very small area, and protestors have largely been nonviolent and even peaceful. It’s just really stupid to believe that being precious about property damage 1/2

Would get us anywhere when the entire administration runs on lies and disinformation anyway. Like I said, spend this energy being mad about human rights violations and de facto martial law happening in a major US city right now. Reactionary centrism is not a good look

The fact that you can’t see the direct line between violent assholes fucking around at protests and the public not taking those protests seriously is concerning. I’m trying to help you understand why people like you who defend this behavior have next to no political power in this country. You are never going to get anywhere if you insist on dying on the defending rioters hill.

You’re trying to create some hypothetical where there was no violence but the Trump admin was able to convince the majority of the public, including people on the left, that there was violence substantial enough to send in the national guard to deflect from the actual situation we’re in. Come on man.
