It’s not correct to say that communists are the ones doing gun control. Communists tend to be very pro-gun because they support armed revolution. Democratic socialists may be pro-gun, but there is ideological room for supporting gun control because they tend to be reformist minded, supporting a reform of the current government system to provide a better social safety net.

Democratic socialism is not Marxism. They have different methods, goals, and government systems. The first democratic socialist government was Queensland Australia in 1899. Not known for its revolutionary fervor and communist idealism.

Nowhere in the constitution does it say anything about slave patrols or black codes, I'd argue that those were going against it in the same way that gun control does, by violating US citizens civil rights.
