Then it’s not free speech. De Jure vs. De Facto. Protect freedom of speech De Jure, but not De Facto. Let people who spew hate be punished by public ridicule, not by the government.
Free speech is already restricted. Obscene speech is (rightfully) illegal.

You have a freedom to say what you want, the only legal restrictions which exist are in events of causing harm. Treason, slander, libel, threats, and obscene speech are all restricted. There is no reason why hate speech should be allowed.
