Genuine question why are leftists against MAHA and RFK banning food dyes and stuff? I’m slightly left but I don’t get how that’s a bad thing, I feel like the left should be for that more than the right honestly

i haven’t heard anyone on the left oppose banning food dyes. there are many other valid reasons to dislike him

It’s because RFK doesn’t base his policies on science. He is an anti-vaxxer who thinks fluoride is scary and everything can be cured by a change in diet. His dietary rules are not based on what is actually shown to be harmful or helpful. He is banning things that are harmless and is promoting things which experts don’t think are healthy (like beef tallow). He’s not a scientist or expert, he’s a snake oil salesman. Sometimes he could be right, but he isn’t reliable.

There are a LOT of reasons why I detest RFK and think the MAHA movement is harmful. This is none of them.

Because there is a group of leftists that have to disagree with Trump no matter what, which devalues their opinions when it comes to actual bad things that Trump does. They are the same leftists who don’t hold the Democratic Party accountable, allowing the party to continue into a free fall.

I’m not sure I’ve seen leftists against banning food dyes. I do think it’s ironic that the justification for a lot of HHS’s decisions are “well the EU does it like this” and the rest of the admin literally trashes the EU on a daily basis 😭

I just remember seeing a lot of people trolling and eating takis and stuff (who I thought were on the left) when they announced the food dye ban. And then lately I’ve seen more MAHA hate but I’ve never really understood why other than the name since it’s related to trump

Example time: I just ran across an Instagram reel today about an immigrant from India advocating for healthier food in the White House. She developed a ton of health issues while in the US and thinks it’s linked to the food. Her biggest argument was to bring American food to international standards and MAHA is in support of this. However, the comments are filled with “what about the EPA” even though that has nothing to do with MAHA.

Nah that does make sense, because the EPA keeps rolling back environmental protections and allowing products that are likely harmful to human health. The EPA would be the best place for RFK given his history as an environmental lawyer, but Trump won’t let him do that for a reason

I’m not really sure what exactly your point is. RFK doesn’t currently have control over what happens with the EPA. That’s why I’m confused on why people are commenting about the EPA on MAHA posts.
