Genuinely I have received better care from a doctor of my same ethnicity than I did previously. I was diagnosed with two chronic conditions immediately after switching, things my white doctor blamed on my weight and race and would not give me referrals for

Your old doctor should be in jail for medical malpractice

So should my parents physicians, and my aunt’s over in NY, and my neighbors over here in a different network with a different PCP. When this keeps happening it’s fair to say that having a doctor of your race/ethnicity is better for you as a patient

I don’t like that that’s true, and I wait for the day every doctor is able to provide the same standard of care, but we are not at that point yet as a medical community

I think that it’s a personal choice. But inherently the race of your doctor doesn’t determine the quality of their care. Black doctors are just as prone to medical malpractice as white doctors, because we are all humans.

It definitely does impact the quality of care, at least regionally. I live in a very white area. I’m not black, I’m Indian, and every time I bring up a concern my old doctors would bring up rice. Last I checked, rice doesn’t cause sciatica in high schoolers.

It’s literally racist to say that race determines the quality of care.

Because that is factually untrue

It does not determine quality of care but in our current system it does impact quality of care for people of color.
