every cell phone used to have a different charging cord and the choice between so many models with unique features made it actually fun and enjoyable to get a new phone. i miss when shit wasn’t a monopolized monoculture. :(

By the way, mattresses are not subject to legal regulation besides infant mattresses for cribs. The reason mattresses only come in a few different sizes is because it is economically efficient for companies to produce them in the same factories as their competitors or, if they own the factory, using equipment that is also used in competitors' factories.

it was a massive mixed market with a ton of competition. cell phones used to be cool with the text keyboard and number pad layouts. there were WAY more carriers back then with way more individualized features, like two-way talk. yes it’s all capitalism but i miss when shit wasn’t a monopolized monoculture :( where’s the whimsy

I mean, the number pad layouts and text keyboards got phased out because they’re just less efficient, and aren’t really compatible with the modern smartphone Also, companies make more money off of smartphones because they’re prone to failing more

unfortunately i lived the experience of losing keyboards to touch screens and have been watching our right to repair technology be taken from us lol. my sprint Eclipse was so damn cool and it was basically a fidget toy too.
