Did you know that Liberia’s story echos Israel? Many Black American freedmen after the Civil War colonized Liberia (encouraged by white racists in America) and brutally oppressed the Africans that lived there.
I have said this many times before. Glad to see someone else does. Liberia is one of my go-to examples of how settler colonialism can be by an oppressed group, and how it can occur in a region they ancestrally originated.

Do you know how the Black Americans justified oppressing the Africans there? The Black Americans were English speaking and Protestant, which they saw as the two major markers of being superior.
