We’re a world empire and most of our capitalist institutions rely on importing cheap goods and selling our excess shit abroad. An isolationist America would be unrecognizably different from our country today

Unfortunately true, I wish there was a good way to incentivize labor and production back into the US. However my post was more aimed towards foreign affairs regarding the federal government

I more meant that our economy only works because we are such a world wide empire, there aren’t enough Americans to buy all the useless shit we produce, that’s why we bullied our way into all these Asian markets.

I do see your point tho and wish it could happen too but I think we’re in too deep. Our imperialism has gotten us so involved in so many conflicts, and has created so many enemies, that I think we’re too far gone to ever be isolationist.
