To push back just a bit, there’s something be said of asking GPT to give specific places to start researching. I don’t use it at all. But I can see a point in getting brief summaries and points to start your own research rather than attributing your point entirely to AI.

Yeah I also think it’s dumb to have it as a crutch or cite it directly as a source for all things. But I’d like to point out similar energy to people who will google a search term, and throw out their first two search results without confirming what they cite is factual.

The exact same way as Wikipedia. You can use it for finding sources, but you should still actually read the fucking thing instead of taking the summary as gospel Shit, even wiki has a bunch of people constantly making sure that the edits on there are accurate
