If rightoids just started backing free IDs for all American Citizens, this would get passed a lot easier. The fact they aren’t proves this isn’t about voting integrity, it’s about punishing the lower classes.

why do you think they wanted voter rolls? they’re hiding this attempt at disenfranchisement behind a guise of “voter integrity”

this is not true and even if it was it doesn’t address OPs point, you’re too stupid to fact check yourself and too stupid to at least make your false claim address the argument

It is true, and it directly undermines OP’s argument.

Is access to a birth certificate free? (No, it’s not. Nor is changing your name on your birth certificate after getting married)

If you made access to ALL necessary documentation free and easily accessible id support this, but it isn’t.

The new act would not allow this. It very explicitly states citizens MUST provide proof of citizenship and would not allow for someone to declare under oath they could not access those supports. If the act were to be reformed to allow this, it would be wonderful!

Or we could just make access to birth certificates/other proof of citizenship free

i was gonna leave a follow up clarifying the free id cards that do exist literally don’t apply to the save act, and even if they did, it doesn’t address the issue on a national level which was OPs point, hence why i said it doesn’t address the point. idk why right wingers are opposed to free forms of ID though, republican states have higher poverty rates so it quite literally benefits them more

republican mentality is just “well i’ll vote against my own interest if it means other people also don’t get the benefits i vote against” so fucking stupid

It’s because they all secretly think they’re going to become billionaires so none of the policy they vote for will harm them

yes but it’s also the welfare queen messaging the was championed by reagan which was completely and utterly made up. they think we want more affordability, more access to basic rights like healthcare, an free id, education because we want to take advantage of the government when we really just to help everyone and anyone in need including republicans*
