Attaching a label and making it a moral issue instead of a medical one (cont.)
Whether it be from lifestyle factors or from a genetic issue, is diminishing the fact that it does need treatment. We don’t call it ableist to say that COPD is a bad thing (whether it’s because someone smoked or got it cause they lived by one of Musk’s data centers). Same with things like addiction, mental illness, etc. If you can live a healthy lifestyle- live a healthy lifestyle. Obesity is objectively bad for your health, and it’s all fun and games until (cont.)
Until your body fails you and you end up with a conditions that could’ve potentially been prevented. If you wanna discuss the obesity epidemic, talk about overwork or the shit food that companies always push out. Call it classism if you’d like. Don’t make it fine, cause the fact is is that it’s not fine.
