Just point them to the last time in earth’s history carbon emissions went up this fast: when a volcano cooked all the fossil fuels under Siberia and killed almost all life on earth

fun fact, during the last global dying the world increased by 4 degrees over a few thousand years. We’ve almost done it in 50!!!

The reason what’s happening now is so dire is that it’s extremely rapid climate change. Like yeah 2 million years ago it was warmer and Florida was underwater. But people live in Florida now. So that’s kind of a problem if it goes underwater again.
