Borders are in the context of nation-states and countries, which indigenous Americans did not have, there wasn’t “land ownership” amongst them as we understand it today in a common law system, there were no clearly defined borders, no sort of border control… etc…often, much of the land, say, in the plains area, was for general stewardship for example, by anyone really. Then again, indigenous tribes differed but there wasn’t a widespread presence, if any, of how we understand land ownership today
Mostly, yeah. Anyone saying either that you quoted is pretty much applying modern concepts to the past is a way that overlooks a lot of nuance. Not to mention this whole thing that liberals and leftists do that ties indigenous people ontologically to the lands of the Americas reeks of “blood and soil” ideology, also reifies racialism and can get into some grey areas that circles back to the likes of blood quantums and shit
No they are not. You gave an example of my house in which borders exist and if you were to break in and kill me and steal my house, that’s stolen land. You gave a separate second example saying that borders do not occur naturally which they don’t but in the situation you gave borders DO exist they are just man made
Because a question does need to be asked should we tie some sort of rightful ownership to the land… what is a “native”? What is an “indigenous person”? Is it someone with native dna? If so, how much? Is it someone in the culture? How would that be defined? Who should give up possession? Someone who lacks the dna, how much must they lack (lot of mixed race people, lot of people with distant native ancestry), (plus this overlooks people adopted into tribes)?
I do believe I said a few comments back that I can answer your questions for you after you are able to formulate a logical argument first otherwise me answering questions is just a waste and time and serves no purpose. If you’d like to explain your point again and see how it’s illogical go for it! In fact I actually encourage you do so has hopefully you’ll be able to notice the mistakes when writing it all out!
I’d love to sit here and destroy every point your making but you’ve stopped making any points and have restored to trying to get a lil “gotcha slam dunk” to try and make up for that fact. It’s annoying af and not a good way to debate. If you truly want to discuss this you will provide me with ANY sort of logical counter point for me to discuss. Until then making little pokes and jabs is all your gunna do it seems
Lmao no one’s throwing a tantrum and if anyone is it’s you. I’ve been sitting here patently waiting for you to just come up with a point as you just run around screaming like a chicken. I’d love for you to finally calm down and come to your senses and try and give me any sort of counter point so I can try and help you explain where you went wrong
