
The business model for private health insurance is literally keeping premiums as high as possible and trying to deny claims as much as possible. It’s literally a middle man incentivized to be shit and drive up costs. There’s no way you can look at that and think it’s the best way to pay for healthcare. If you come at it purely from an economic perspective it costs less to make a single payer system.
It doesn’t even make sense as “insurance” because what the fuck is the point of insurance if not to pool up money in the case of an extreme, rare event? It’s not really insurance if it’s required for you to get medication or checkups on a regular schedule.
