I knew about this beforehand btw 🐻 Ok so, in those days, bear training was a very serious entertainment career and it was traditionally inherited from father to son, and Theodora’s father only had girls. Daughters could inherit it but it was less common and stuff.

So, when Acacius, (father of Theodora) died, his position as a bear trainer went to someone totally unrelated because of bribes and the community not respecting Theodora and Comito (Theodora’s older sister) very much. Their mom, a widow now, actually had to break up with alot of her former friends over it because they didn’t back them up.
