American slavery began way before that, Native Americans enslaved each other long before Europeans reached the continent.

Exactly. There have been slave trades historically on every corner of the planet for tens of thousands of years, you’re talking about the one relevant to the specific society we live in

And just because slavery happened else where in other societies, doesn’t mean it excuses or minimizes the effects of American Chattel Slavery.

“American slavery” specifically refers to race-based chattel slavery. Stop trying to downplay and redirect the conversation. multiple forms of slavery exist, and have for a long time, but our country was specifically founded on race based chattel slavery; which evolved from indentured servitude (the original form of forced labor/slavery that we inherited from Britain. Ex: indentured servitude was mostly religion based, American slavery is based on arbitrary groups dependent on race.

additionally, race based chattel slavery officially began due to a court case back in the 1600s in which 3 enslaved people (indentured servants at the time) were arrested for trying to escape slavery, two of which were white men, one of which was a black man; and the court sentenced the black man to life-long servitude (slavery), as well as being whipped, as a punishment, while the other two white men were subjected to being whipped (if I remember correctly)
