you think altering the history of other races to make ours feel better is “putting all race shit behind”? brother, YOU VILLAINIZED YOURSELF BY VOTING FOR THE CANDIDATE SUPPORTED BY VILLAINS. like seriously. whether you like it or not, you sided with genuine racists, genuine nazis, and genuine fucking villains, and you think that shit from over 100 years ago is why people hate you? get over yourself, you’re not a victim you’re a perpetrator.
I’d rather we leave things alone and try to learn from our past but it seems like people are capable of that these days. I remember when I was in middle school I was temporarily moved to a public school. I was the only white kid in my class and the teacher and students would absolutely vilify me during history. And I felt like a piece of shit bc I’m just a student. I didn’t tell older generations to own slaves or be racist. But the people in my class would treat me like I did
I see so minorities were not targeted and excluded for the past 200 years? Jim Crow laws which are honestly just an extension of slavery didn’t exist either? You don’t need to be comfortable with history for it to be told. Get uncomfortable, deny it or accept the truth. It doesn’t erase what happened and it doesn’t undo the wrongs of ourselves and our ancestors. Get over your self and think
bro rewriting history is not gonna change the fact that you got bullied. i’m sorry that happened to you, if it’s true, but do you seriously think a Donald Trump-ified version of Black History is somehow going to make racism disappear? you think it’s ok to deprive people of the truth if it makes them feel better?
To 6 message I don’t think your middle school should have treated you as such there’s some misplaced anger, but there needs to be a way to talk abt the history of our country without the villainy. Dismissing it all together is worse, we’re going to lose people in history who did important things and may be forgotten bc it was not fit with the ‘ideal history trump has in his head’ not j slavery but people’s contribution to science and lit and the reasons for laws, activists groups
Political disputes, even our participation in wars, the things that were done wrong, and ofc the history of slavery and politics and how we moved thro that. It would be easier to forget it and move on, but we’d become more naive from it, we need to understand why we are where we are today (including in the good ways!) and who and what got us here. Rip that truthful foundation out and misinformation is going to run rampant. Also, the president shouldn’t have the right to ask this of a museum.
