people with conservative political views have historically been on the wrong side of history. and it makes sense. being conservative means that u don’t want to progress as a society. and we’re not perfect. we have to keep progressing to be better

usually when someone’s conservative it’s safe to assume they are also a nonce. but i’m not saying every single conservative wants to keep every aspect of the world the same as it is rn. but being conservative, by definition, means not wanting to progress. that’s why the latter opinion is called progressives

Which then implies you can be conservative about some things and progressive about others. Whether or not the stance is a “good” one will depend on the circumstance. When you say usually, what sort of stats do you reference?
