If the CSA won the war it would most likely be brought down by a slave revolt like Haiti and be a Black American majority country of its own before the year 1900.
If the South had won…

That sounds like a good thing, compared to what actually happened

There’s a book on alternative history

Almost 90% of Haiti’s population was enslaved that’s why the revolt worked. In the CSA only about 40% where slaves so a revolt would be easier to crush.

Don’t most historians agree that the CSA would’ve collapsed after a few years anyway

Alternative history is hard to predict but Haiti these days isn’t doing so well

Yea but that’s cause they owe debt to the French. If the slave revolt didn’t happen in a colony but in an independent nation then idk if they’d have the same struggles

Yeah man Haiti isn’t doing well because America and all of Europe got really butthurt about their revolution and decided to punish them for 150 years for it

Sorry I didn’t fully articulate it, I meant that one book specifically about how if the CSA won and seceded it would’ve been followed by a fascist regime and then a socialist revolution

You technically only need something like 10% for a rev to be plausible

Well I think it’s more difficult when the revolting population is enslaved. There’s a reason successful slave revolts are so rare

This was a sensitive subject in a recent discussion: claiming that only the northern army could have freed the slaves strikes some as “white savior” syndrome. On the other hand, claiming that slaves would have eventually revolted successfully allegedly diminishes the deaths of soldiers in that war.

I don’t think I understand how that diminishes the deaths of soldiers

Implies the deaths were unnecessary, if the outcome would have been the same, maybe?

I think in this hypothetical scenario that a similar thing could happen

No, most agree that slavery in name would have though

Theres a lot of truth in that, but you can also lay a lot of blame on the revolutionary leaders who seized power after Louverture
