Sadly my very blue city is among some of the worst in education nationally, but it’s rooted in its history of segregation. 52% functionally illiterate and 67% low-literate (6th-8th grade reading level). Private and Charter schools are the only way here, with more and more public schools closing their doors each year

and fwiw NC is more purple, it has a democratic state govt but is chronically unable to elect blue federally Your statement still checks out for the other states though
