Why are our politicians constantly slobbing Israel’s knob? They do absolutely nothing for us in return. They don’t even have oil.

Two main reasons: 1) evangelicals have some thought about it needing to exist for the rapture or something, so they lobby heavily 2) there aren’t many good options for any allies in the Middle East, it’s also why we’re allied with problematic countries like Saudi Arabia and Qatar, because basically “they’re not Iran or the taliban in Afghanistan”

Part of it is not about Israel specifically But because it’s a testing ground for the Military industrial complex Other parts of it are to have a stable ally in the Middle East, or because it’s comparatively democratic

They have access to intelligence in the region we don’t.

They constantly go out and start fights with all of their neighbors, and then come crying over to us when one of them or all of them start fighting back, and we just fucking give them free money for no reason.

They might have oil. Depends on whether there’s oil off the coast of Gaza and whether anyone’s going to stop Israel from claiming it’s theirs

Idk how legitimately mentally damaged and short sighted and just ignorant about the intelligence community you have to be to have this opinion but I know you’ve definitely cleared the bar there

Yeah this meme and all the other drool inducing brainrot I see the anti-Israel kids who only learned what Palestine was on October 8th 2023 pass around their spaces probably feels really good to hugbox yourself in, but it’d be a lot more respectable if you actually bothered to learn anything about how the world works, why Israel has a lot of pull in tech and defense spaces, and what we get out of the relationship. That would of course require way more effort than shitposting on YikYak, so.

Is there no effort to onshore that intelligence like how we’re trying to make TSMC manufacture in the US?

TLDR yes but it’s good to have friends. The benefit of having multiple intelligence agencies sharing info is that you can share what you know and corroborate threats. Aside from Iran, who is an adversary, for good reasons, Israel and Saudi Arabia are the regional powers, and Israel is the more competent power militarily, technologically, and in the intelligence community, and it will always be easier to rely on friends in the region than it is to maintain our own independent intel networks.

Hmm makes sense, but even then, we almost seem closer to them than the Five Eyes (besides Canada historically)

Mostly just a function of where the majority of our military focus has been for the past 30ish years, Middle East and Africa, and the fact that they’re far better integrated into those countries than we or any Five Eyes country are. Because they live there.
