It was so funny since Oklahoma legislation passed to ban child marriage And instead of making a semi-reasonable argument about Romeo and Juliet, like a 16 and 18 year old who got pregnant They kept going on and on about parents rights like to choose how their 9 year old should marry a 60 year old

Islam isn’t the the. We really are both arguing that child rape is bad, if it were to me all rape, especially of a child should be the death penalty, regardless of race religion etc, I’m sure you would agree. I’m taking the stance that a majority of these crimes are committed by islamists and can give my reasons if you want. While I’m focusing on that specific group you are looking at the rest of the perpetrators it seems to me.

This is where you’re wrong, the church doesn’t permit that behavior or have it as a practice. We heavily condemn it actually. Certain individuals are evil and use positions of influence to take advantage of people. This is observed significantly more frequently in public schools. Are you saying that schools “permit behavior like that” and “don’t condemn that practice?”

Ah so you have a fundamental misunderstanding of what “the church” is. Christians are followers of Jesus Christ who live by the teachings of the Bible. Christians as a whole make up “the church”. If someone rapes a child, they are going against the teachings of the Bible and are therefore not part of the church. Those are inherently contradictory.

Anonymous replying to -> #11 6w

Modern “Churches” are localized establishments run by individuals and are susceptible corruption, as any human-ran entity is. Schools are similarly vulnerable. Additionally both instances that you showed of an institution covering up that behavior were referenced to European Catholic Churches. The Vatican and other Catholic Churches are rejected by Protestants who make up the vast majority of Christians in America.

Also, you never answered my question: Since the same things you mentioned happen in schools on a much larger scale, are you saying that schools "permit behavior like that" and "don't condemn that practice?"

I get why your criticizing them, and I’m not defending them, I could ask why you pivoted away from Islam. I pivoted to bring the spot light back to that

upvote 1 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #13 6w

So you admit you pivoted! When you saw that the catholic church had the highest number of of sexual abuse cases you tried to minimize that information by qualifying it as clergy members only, as if that matters when talking about child rape When someone else brought up the church you literally went “what about” and pivoted back to islam.

Why does the qualification of clergy members matter when referring to the issue of children being raped? And why is it okay for you to arbitrarily decide what is and isn’t important? You saw evidence of child rape in the church and went “what about this other thing”

That’s exactly my point. The idea of “The church” that you have in your head doesn’t exist. “The church” consists of those who believe in Christ and follow his teachings, which in no way support or allow pedophilia. You are complaining about individual churches, which again, are institutions that can be corrupted by evil people. Just like schools.

Back to my very easy to understand metaphor: You’re essentially saying “look at all these public schools who allowed child grapes, this must mean that school as a concept permits that behavior!”

upvote -1 downvote

Anonymous replying to -> #11 6w

Yes it does. The catholic church is “the church” And even granting the idea that somehow they’re separate, the religions existence has granted these people to take power using ideological beliefs and then prevent the consequences of rape of children

upvote 1 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #11 6w

And it’s such a dismissive thing to do when talking about child rape to try and just blame it on “evil people” as if things like this weren’t covered up for decades Do you condemn the Catholic Church for hiding child rape?

So I see you missed a few of my replies… Hate to break it to you but the Catholic Church is not “the church” 😭 Only Catholics claim that about themselves, Protestants reject this completely. They don’t control what happens in the church I assure you. They control what happens within in their respective congregations, but again that’s not Christianity.

Again, I just reject the premise lol. The church exists because people run it, Christianity exists because people continue to believe and perpetuate it. And speaking of the protestants they’re all facing extremely bad scandals for covering up sex abuse. It seems to be a trait.

What are you talking about 😭 It’s dismissive to call rapists evil people? I know you feel like your beliefs are being attacked but take a second to breathe and think about your arguments. And of course I condemn them. The Catholic Church is full of a bunch of power hungry heretics that use their position of power to do heinous things.

It’s dismissive to pretend sexually abusing kids and then decades worth of covering it up by authority figures within the church is just “a few evil people” My beliefs aren’t being attacked lmao. I just reject your argument/premise because it lacks actual substance Do you condemn the Protestant Church that’s been doing the same thing?

I never said it was just “a few evil people”, you’re literally making stuff up. You’re welcome to reject “my argument” but I assure you that would be a move of willful ignorance. “My argument” is just facts about the world and this can be easily backed up by a basic amount of research. I don’t condemn the “Protestant church”because again, it’s a belief system that actively rejects rape. But I do gladly condemn all churches of any denomination that choose to partake in that behavior.

That’s literally what you were saying, “certain individuals are evil” is just the exact phasing. It would be a move of willful ignorance according to? Your argument is that the church doesn’t exist despite the idea of it existing because it’s being run by people not being proven wrong

Bingo. Islam has those practices written into their religious texts as normalized behaviors, and their greatest prophets partook in them directly. (Eg. Muhammad and his 6 year old wife Aisha) Jesus and The Bible on the other hand teach the opposite. Therefore people who call themselves Christians and do those things aren’t following Christianity, they’re just larping a religious title for some reason. Muslims on the other hand, when they do those things, are actually following their religion.
