In the case of Bryon and Kristi Noem I think it’s justified because it’s hypocritical and Kristi Noem deserves to go to the lowest level of hell. Sometimes it does rub me the wrong way a bit, though, like when Jasmine Crockett said “Governor Hot Wheels”. It’s funny but also a bit of a yikes, and it’s a bad look if you try to take the moral high ground against someone who’s ableist after saying that
Why do I care who’s better any more? I’m tired of people on the left harassing me or treating me like I’m stupid and then thinking I’m going to feel comfortable in those settings just because Republicans are worse. Republicans being horrible human beings doesn’t give us a right to treat each other like shit.
Would you say that it’s justified to mock someone who’s fat for being fat if they happen to be a shitty person? How do you think a fat person who’s fat but agrees with you is expected to feel about that? You’re essentially equating the thing that is wrong to the physical trait. I really don’t think most people here even care about this point I’m making. I just don’t feel listened to.
If Adolf Hitler was really insecure about his height, would you call him a manlet to make him cry? I would. Could that possibly hurt the feelings of some other short dude? Sure. But that’s not the target, and that makes it a them problem that they feel attacked by a clearly targeted remark.
Does this apply to slurs as well? It doesn’t matter who is harmed by the slur if the morally bad target is harmed? Do you then tell the other person to shut the fuck up and stop acting like a Republican for even daring to be offended at a physical trait of their being called ugly? I just give up personally. I’m tired of physical comments, and I won’t engage any longer in communities that insist on making them. I am not respected in those communities.
This is actually relevant considering a black ICE agent was recently called the N word. I think that’s up to the black community to decide. I see what you mean now — in all cases, the question about whether insults related to disabilities, sexual orientation, etc. towards politicians are acceptable really should be left up to the community affected by them
Which is my entire fucking point. But I’ve just been told by half this community that me, as a member of the community, don’t even get a say to tell people to fuck off. And when I tried to, they just called me a Republican. I don’t really think anyone cares about what the communities want. They just want to use it for their own gain. Nobody cared what I wanted or what I was saying except for you. You’re one of few who even bothered to listen.
