Except the Geneva convention only applies if the other side is also following the rules. As Iran has struck desalination plants and power plants in Kuwait, civilian infrastructure in Bahrain, and more across the gulf state area, the US can strike both power and water infrastructure (and probably more) and it won't be at fault for any war crimes.
Well you can't have a war without killing people, if thats how you think about it then killing the nazis was just "legal murder" too. Should they have just let them be because it's mean to kill people? And frankly striking a power plant or a bridge is gonna be a low casualty strike, maybe a no casualty strike, so not really murder at that point. And since Iran did it first (especially the desalination plants in a kingdom as small as Kuwait, 100% a war crime), it's ethically reasonable.
No good reason. Israel did it because Bibi knows he is running out of time, because Americans have reasoned Israel is a sick country that wants to murder all its neighbors and is a bad ally. This is probably the last chance they’ve got to make progress towards Greater Israel, so they’re gonna swing at anyone they can rope America into doing the actual fighting of.
