Well for starters, the national budget won't be used to bribe people for votes, our economic/foreign policy won't depend on the whims of office workers and plumbers who don't read and can’t find Russia on a map, national strategies won't be abandoned every 4-8 yrs, and the fate of our country won't hinge on a dishonest reality TV sports game between two corporate-backed teams that use symbolic culture war issues to keep the heat away from the feds and delude us into believing we have power.
I hear what you’re saying but there is corruption in every system of government. But with authoritarianism, there is no accountability. At least with democracy, there is a way to hold people accountable. If a person is exposed for corruption, people won’t vote for them under a democracy. under an authoritarian regime, if the leader/leaders end up being corrupt, there is no system in place to hold them accountable. Democracy gives us the ability to reform things when they don’t work
