Why is it so damn difficult for people to be decent human beings, not force their personal beliefs on others, and listen to other people? It wouldn’t solve all problems, but the world would be a little less fucked up

It’s because everyone is selfish. That’s individualism. Everyone believes the world owes them something and they owe everyone else nothing

Individualism definitely is the engine of our selfishness, but it doesn’t have anything to do with forcing beliefs on others. We have orthodoxy (correct belief) to thank for that.
