He kinda did though. He held a lot of the same views as Leo, but he even created a loophole for gay marriage! It was along the lines of “We cannot bless the matrimony itself, but we can bless everyone at the gathering, grooms/brides included”

discouraging abortion doesn’t immediately mean putting a government ban on access to it. It just means u don’t agree with or encourage it.
