It only changed with Reagan ignoring the AIDS epidemic and straight people wanting to distance themselves from looking gay. Clothes stopped being fitted, hair less styled, and dress down culture becoming mainstream
Also as a white dude, nobody’s saying we’re all evil besides a very small minority. My family’s roots in the country are from escaping a genocide and the city I live in was particularly bad towards immigrants from my ancestor’s home. History is rhyming with different people. Although my family didn’t have it as bad as others and were still part of a problem, their struggles in fleeing hardship and setting down roots are still very relevant today.
