Looking at the 14 points it looks like we’re getting what we want out of this conflict. This doesn’t make Trump good, this was a situation he totally blundered his way into. I’m not gonna give the president credit for cleaning a mess he made.

You won’t give him credit, but unfortunately a lot of other people will

But… what did we get out of the conflict?? Iran has always officially declared that they are not making nuclear weapons, even in the Obama deal. They just wanted to keep 3.67% of enriched uranium or whatever (idk the actual details)

The deal is designed to fail, the literal first point is an end to the war including Lebanon. Israel has already said they are not stopping the war in Lebanon, therefore no deal

The saving grace is that some other calamity usually pops up b/c that’s life under Trump

When he said the nuclear weapons grade material was “obliterated” it probably wasn’t actually so it’s good to get the nuclear material out of Iran.

But.. the memorandum just says that they’ll dilute it right? To 3.67% like the Obama deal? I don’t think it specified a number

unfortunately true, he just causes issues and then somehow gets credit for solving the issues he creates. This just the cycle we’re in were he causes an issue and then solves it or pretends to solve it.

If that’s true and Israel hasn’t changed their tune then it’s just more political embarrassment for Trump.

I haven’t seen a specific number either I’m assuming that’ll be in the long term deal this is just the 60 day deal.

Hmmm so I guess Iran wasn’t complying with the Obama deal ever since 2019, but that’s since Trump pulled out in 2018 anyways (so US breached it first). However, I think they violated the NPT, not just by the enrichment, but by not declaring their material, not explaining their material, not inspecting. In 2025 IAEA found Iran in non-compliance

Seeing as Israel bombed Lebanon within hours of the deal being signed I’d say it’s already fallen through. Israel currently occupies over 600 square kilometers of southern Lebanese sovereign territory. We will be back to war in a month tops

I think the issue is that Iran did comply with the JCPOA until Trump withdrew in 2018. And was generally compliant with NPT then too. IAEA had repeatedly verified that. So, I think under Obama, they were not a nuclear threat. 🤔🤔 not sure if a lower # Is better

No evidence points to them being compliant before Trump withdrew

This happens with most ceasefires in the region they take shots at each other right after. Only time will tell. Israel and Iran did the same thing after the one exchange that feels like forever ago now.

Or no evidence shows them going against the deal lol.

… they were compliant before Trump withdrew (2015-2018) At least per this https://www.armscontrol.org/blog/2018-06-08/iaea-report-confirms-irans-compliance-jcpoa

I would agree, but when you have the Israeli national security advisor saying they will not stop I prefer to take them on their word

Looking into I think you’re right, I think it might complicate the deal. Unless Iran is fine with them occupying southern Lebanon for the foreseeable future
