Like sure you could argue it’s a good time to do it but also like… what’s the point? The ROC is never gonna come back to the mainland. China is now mostly reliant on international trade. What’s the point of disrupting all that? It’s not even a propaganda win if the economy disruption fucks Chinese people over.

The problem for them is that right now is also the time Xi has died dozens of top military leaders for “corruption”, their two major allies’ militaries have been severely damaged, and we know see what the closure of a critical maritime choke point can do to national and global economics, this time the worry being the Strait of Malacca
