I did not get ads for nicotine before quitting zyns. It took less than 24 hours for data brokers to identify that I was searching for withdrawal timelines, and then I got absolutely fucking FLOODED with shit like this.

Can we also talk about online gambling ads while we’re at it? I can’t watch anything without getting shit for bet mgm and I have quite literally never shown an interest in gambling before

Zyn prolly isn’t the best for you, but cmon, there are likely 1,000s of other things you do daily that do more to cause cancer than zyn

There are things you can do to get these ads and videos to stop showing up! Almost all social media has a why to filter out key words and phrases and ads. You can report ads and say you don’t like them and don’t want to see them too!

They didn’t get you addicted to nicotine. Take responsibility for something in ur life

I agree with you but I don’t blame capitalism for this. It’s just part of human nature. Do you really think addictive things don’t exist and aren’t abused in communist countries?

It’s not just the ads, either. I’ve been placed squarely on addiction tiktok. there’s a very clear normalize->glorify->advertise algorithmic recipie cooking here

Yeah you’d think I’d be getting ads for fuckin Nicorette or some shit if they detected a total cessation of zyn purchases

That’s a major W. Just 14 more days and it’ll won’t be as bad. I usually quit during the summers between college and the first couple weeks were always the worst.

Quite possibly the funniest response to someone actively in the process of quitting an addictive chemical is “take responsibility for something in ur life.”

holy shit it’s so weird seeing these things be advertised with the most brainrot and most recent trendy phrase or song and using the younger generations “ironic humor” against them if that makes sense. like “almost forgot this is the whole point😜”

Don’t start? It’s (more than) common knowledge the effects of zyns and nicotine as a whole. No one made you try one and keep going

Whatever the reason was that they started, this particular person is in fact now taking responsibility for their health and stopping. It’s a weird time for you to be swooping in to tell people what they already know.

It’s not inaccurate to say that companies producing addictive substances have a vested interest in getting/keeping people addicted to their substances to make a good profit. I’m not saying that people aren’t in responsible for their own decisions, but I’d still factor in outside pressures before judging someone.

That’s been happening to me too! I’ve been getting ads for resources to help with gambling addiction and I have never gambled in my life.
