Like i guess this is something where i just fully didn’t expect people to take sides in this manner? I’m not surprised when right wingers try to defend Rittenhouse or Zimmerman because they fetishize self defense, love the brutalization of protesters, and excuse white supremacist violence as much as possible because they sympathize with racist fears.
But a fatal high school stabbing? Being defended by people who otherwise aren’t conservative? What world do you live in where that’s normal? And I’ve seen people claim that Metcalf was a racist bully who attacked Anthony with a group of friends. Is there any evidence for that? That’s a genuine question not a gotcha. Or do people just create an alternate reality to justify the conclusion they pre-reached.
Is America racist? Absolutely. That doesn’t mean someone from a group subject to racial bias can’t also be in the wrong. Maybe I’m dwelling on this too much given it was a single case and it’s pretty much over. But I’m genuinely stunned to see people defending this. I expected white supremacists to take advantage of it and be shitty. I didn’t expect this though.
