the problem is that the association is being made that it was “peaceful” while apartheid was still going on, when in fact, crime rates were still quite high objectively, the nation was better when it banned apartheid, which still doesn’t remove any issues it has had between that and now, but apartheid objectively worsened quality of life for everyone whether they knew that or not

It doesn’t because if you’re endorsing a time in South Africa where apartheid was legal, you’re essentially endorsing its existence being part of their “peace”.

You could’ve said you wanted something more like it in the 2000s, but you specifically picked 1990, when apartheid was still legal, so that’s where the problem arises.

I don’t actually believe you approve of apartheid, I just hope you understand that you’re misunderstanding that apartheid was anything but peaceful, and that its legality created way more issues than what you’re describing of that time.
