To be fair that is largely caused by policy usually pushed as a positive by democrats (it is overall a good thing to stop practice harmful to the environment but they weren’t thought of an given no safety net) so it does kinda push them into a lifestyle of hating those who they think hate them

What kind of policy? Genuine question cause I know the causes of this are somewhat complex. I usually think of policies that allow the Walmarts of the world to trample family owned businesses and the Monsanto types that kill family farms. To my eye republicans usually vote for those policies more than democrats do but that’s sort of a guess

But I do get how some people living in those places would hate coastal liberal elites. Especially if those elites call these people dumb when they’re really just not financially able to obtain a quality education

I mean this is a classic example of a dead coal town 🤷‍♀️ That’s why so many of these shithole Republican town photos come from West Virginia Also with Walmart the blame is rarely on republicans because their policy often helps farmers but at the cost of helping the people who hurt farmers more

This is classic small town America. This could be taken in any state in the US. And Republican policies don’t help farmers they help corporations which in turn hurts farmers. At the same time, these places also refuse to grow or do something new so young people aren’t moving in and people who grew up there want to move out

U see the problem is that they can’t afford education in those areas since the only way to make money there for years was “go work at this place” and everything was built around that so most people didn’t value school to work instead. so any policy to improve schools was shot down in favor of lower taxes This means worse education to understand that a $.04 tax cut might be nice but usually means a $10000 tax cut for the guy that hates u

Not to mention they can’t really do anything new since that would cost a bunch of money they don’t have and the target audience would be people who don’t have money That’s part of the reason Walmart is so powerful since they hire the undereducated and sell for those working on a Walmart salary

And the problem with blaming Democrats for that is those are all local policy issues and these towns are ran by and for republicans. Tax breaks and individualism are more important than community wellbeing to them

I’m not saying they’re right I’m saying that the systems in place for them make their beliefs make sense
