Could easily be argued it’s just a bad application but personally I do not think the good AI has done in practice justifies the bad it’s done, even if idealists wanna say it can cure cancer and all that. They’re probably right tbh, but even then, best case, I’m willing to bet any medical advancements AI can create will be monetized to LITERALLY the death of some. Tech like this is just not built for humans, we’re too hubristic and violent to handle it.
Also, what’s gonna happen when mfs graduate from medical/nursing school with a ChatGPT degree and just don’t actually know their shit at all? You know how many nursing majors I’ve overheard in the library talmbout “oh I had Chat do it and went to the bar” like damn bruh, my life better never be in one of you bitches’ hands!
I just think there’s gonna be some serious negative second order effects to rolling out The Corner-Cutter Machine to every single person in the country all at once. I think there’s gonna be a lot of corners cut that prolly shouldn’t be. That’s without even talking about the data centers themselves, I think the technology would be bad for us as a species even if it was 100% green.
Like I said im very open to hearing opinions on ai because it’s too new for me to have a firm opinion on. I guess i just wonder what difference it is in terms of when we introduced the internet to society vs ai. Everyone was just as terrified of the internet and then it became normal one day. The internet has always been poison for us but it’s also done a lot of good if used the correct way
