In all seriousness, the only reason why servers choose their job is because pay can get up to around $50 an hour. Now do you all REALLY think an employer would ever pay that for their servers? No. Obviously not. If the employers don't pay them that much, then they have no reason to work that job. Do you get it? We would have no service at restaurants because nobody would want to do it.
because you’re paying for the service. after tips i make like 20-25 an hour. when you pay for something and tip you pay the restaurant for the price of food and the price of having employees there and you pay me for the actual service (making and serving food and other service stuff) the restaurant also pays me a base wage to be there, and do side work like cleaning and stocking. and if they make more i make more which is nice plus i never make below minimum wage even if i got 0 tips somehow.
the tip is the price of service. i think people should tip less but everyone should tip. if you tip idk a dollar or less and everyone does that i make a decent amount and you’re not paying too much for the price of service + the cost of materials and basic costs that you pay the restaurant. i also think only jobs like restaurants and coffee shops should be tipped since those significantly change the amount of labor based on how busy they are
No the restaurant hires you to do the job, which includes the back end stuff and service. They should be responsible for paying you accordingly, they are your employer. Otherwise, if I had the option to put in my own order and grab my own food I would. Because respectfully, that service is not worth an extra 20-25% for me unless I have a large group of people
