The FAA freaking out over how to update air traffic control from windows 95 to modern versions without completely shutting down air traffic is really funny to me. Like wow, they need a period where no one is traveling…like a lockdown…perhaps….like 2020…The issue is this update would take much longer than just a few hours. They still use floppy disks and paper strips. And they control all of air travel, not just landing and take off, but flight paths and altitudes and everything to avoid planes coming close to or actually hitting each other in the air. It would take days to move and replace the hardware, not including redoing the software. All planes would have to be completely grounded in the US the entire time if they did it all at once
