what if we did the jury duty thing but for legislation?
you fly out a bunch of random citizens. then the legislators have to explain the bill to the people, making their case for or against it. at the end, the people vote.
there could be a mediator whose job it is to make sure the bill isn’t misrepresented (kinda like a judge).
this could all even be an extension of the regular jury duty process.

and SPECIFICALLY have the legislators be the ones pitching/defending the bill, not “experts” hired by lobbyists

I need our representatives to actually care about the things they’re trying to put into place. I need them to understand the bills enough to actually have a debate; if middle schoolers can do it, so can these 40yo professionals
