
I think we run into the issue where you have increasingly divided blame for the causes of central issues, a lot of it on gender lines. We all want a more affordable country, but some people blame billionaires, housing as investments, and a flimsy social safety net. Others have been convinced that government regulation is the problem actually and support billionaires. These are diametrically opposed ideas, so it would be difficult to appeal to all portions of young people.
I am a very regulation-minded person, so I personally blame a mix of insufficient regulation, corporate greed, and issues surrounding the inflation of housing prices through their use as investment properties. I favor an expansion of the social safety net using taxes from businesses and the wealthy, and greater worker’s rights and regulations through pro-union legislation, higher minimum wage, more maternity leave, more vacation time, etc
