I have no idea of their immigration status because it’s none of my fucking business I believe that people need to be held accountable for their actions. US citizens or not. You realize that they are going after people here legally, right? with all the paperwork, all the proper documentation, some of them even US Citizens and they’re taking children, separating them, or taking the parents and leaving behind the children to fend for themselves. when detainees are released, they get nothing but the clothes on their backs. no ride home, many are in entirely different states… I read the entire thread. the context of which exposed your bias; immigrant = criminal…

i mean, they’ve detained multiple U.S. Veterans, a corrections officer in Maine despite identifying himself as such, attempted to detain local police officers which forced them to out themselves as such while they are undercover… i don’t know that you fully realize that they are not going after immigrants with criminal records: they’re going after ANYONE who is immigrant adjacent or looks like it. don’t even get me started on what they’ve already done to our indigenous communities…

you fully do not understand that undocumented workers, even with an ITN, do not receive any tax benefits. a friend of mine is a DACA kid and has had to pay $1.5k every two yrs since he turned 16. he’s worked incredibly hard at multiple jobs and pays taxes on his paychecks. he doesn’t get any benefits like SS, Medicaid, SNAP, or much of a tax return. Immigrants provided $96B to the government in taxes in 2022, which they do not see a dime of in benefits.

DACA recipients are not illegal immigrants. I could be wrong, but I don’t think so. There are ways to be in this country as a legal non citizen. How many times do i have to say it—they do not care about documented or undocumented!! If ICE gets their hands on my friend, he’s going to be disappeared and taken to a detention center in a new state where he will endure ungodly conditions and his life will be at risk. ICE is literally snatching people at the courthouse who are there to report as they are legally required to do so and even those being SWORN IN as citizens, bc they spent decades doing it the right way!! And they’re gay so according to you, they’d be targeted especially. You don’t have to believe it. Go read about it. Go listen to testimony from multiple released citizens who were kidnapped and sent to a detention facility in a different state. Read about how 2025 had the highest number of deaths in ICE custody in over two decades. Read about Kasper Erikson. Look further into the massive Kilmer Abrego-Garcia case. Do all of this in an academic fashion so as to make critical thinking a key component of your research. Get informed on both sides, man. I’ve done it

I’m all for a good-faith debate and it’s one of my favorite things to do bc it’s essentially a two-way street on education if everyone is willing to listen and be open to new information & jointly learning about the subject being discussed. I never directly insulted you, unless you think saying “Your bias is extremely apparent” is insulting… I also described your bias as an assumption that all undocumented immigrants are criminals, and hoped that you were never in a position of authority amongst immigrant children or adult learners.
