Halal slaughtering is actually way more humane than most of the slaughter methods used in the US, particularly at the industrial level and factory farms. Minimizing pain to the animal as much as possible is actually a requirement for the meat to be halal, people are just uncomfortable with it because the death and blood are visible and the contact directly from a person and not a machine.
