The south should’ve been under military occupation at least till the 20s. No suffrage for ex-confederates, either burn all the plantations or even better, give them to the newly minted freedmen. Instead within 20 years the old order was back in power.

Denazification’s mostly a myth as well that none of the Allies had the stomach for. Germany was full of people who thought the only thing Hitler did wrong was lose until their younger generations brow beat them in the 70s and 80s.

they didn’t really do much better tbh, the eastern bloc like starved a bunch of teenage conscripts to death, but they “rehabilitated” and hired former nazi military officers too
