I know the prevailing thought is that it was always there and just more visible now, but I think part of it is the proliferation of racist content on twitter and instagram influencing impressionable teens.

I find the uptick in hatred towards black people and Jewish people in the past year very disturbing. It’s just important to remember this has probably been hiding in the woodwork for a while

I mean in general overt racism is just more commonly visible rn then it was in like 2009 Partially Trump but partially because online and anon material ofc

Right wing populism is only growing in popularity because the left has disavowed white voters in favor of foreign nationals. Even if the platform is wrong, people want to feel accepted and they feel more accepted by the right

The left hasn’t disavowed white voters. White people just can’t stand the truth that part of their success in this nation is due not to their hard work but due to holding many minorities back and despite this disadvantage, these white people have to see many minorities more successful than themselves.

I think Trump is more of a symptom than a cause, like if he didn’t exist someone else would be filling the same role
